Sobre este filme

The year is 2005…

For millennia, the heroic Autobots, led by Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen), have been at war with the evil Megatron (Frank Welker) and his Decepticons over control of their home planet of Cybertron. However, an even greater threat: Unicron (Orson Welles, Citizen Kane), a colossal converting planet that devours everything in its path and is heading right for Cybertron. The only hope is the Autobot Matrix of Leadership. Will the Autobots be able to save themselves and their home world in time?

An all-star cast, including Judd Nelson (The Breakfast Club), Leonard Nimoy (Star Trek), Eric Idle (the Monty Python films) and Robert Stack (The Untouchables), brings this inimitable, explosively entertaining Autobot adventure to life.

Look, if you're from the 80s and watched Transformers growing up, you understand why this movie is so important. The improved animation over the TV show, the music, the fact that Transformers ACTUALLY DIED... This movie, while on it's own is mediocre, is a cultural event for us old timers. I only recommend watching with you're studying older anime or want a glimpse into the 80s.

One of the greatest memories of my childhood is seeing this in the theater. Without spoiling anything, the franchise-altering events in this movie made an indelible mark on my 11-year old psyche in much the same way that the "Thanos snap" affected MY kids. The quality of this version is well worth the purchase price, though i could use a few more extras (storyboards, behind the scenes, featurettes, etc) seeing as how this is a "30th Anniversary" edition. That's the only real complaint I have...

- THE - cartoon movie of the 80s. If you're old enough to have watched it in your childhood and love it, I'm sure you'll still love it now. It's an awesome nostalgia trip! Its plot pace is still snappy to this day 30+ years later. There're some top notch voice actors that sadly you'll never hear again, so treasure that here. And if you're now grown up and have kids that love Transformers toys, I strongly suggest you watch this movie with your kids while playing the toys with them, and explain them the characters' origins along the way. They'll love you for it and it'll be great fun with them.
