Jerry (Ryan Reynolds) is a chipper guy, clocking the nine-to-five at a bathtub factory. With the help of his court-appointed psychiatrist, he pursues his office crush (Gemma Arterton). However, the relationship takes a sudden, murderous turn after she stands him up for a date. Guided by his evil talking cat and benevolent talking dog, Jerry must decide whether to keep striving for normalcy, or indulge in a much more sinister path. Also starring Anna Kendrick and Jacki Weaver.

Crazy psychopaths seem to be the hot trend in movies today. I just watched three of them in Nightcrawler, Home Sweet Hell, and The Voices and I'm afraid to go to sleep now. Jerry in The Voices is the craziest of them all, the craziest I've seen since Norman Bates in Psycho. Reynolds gives a great performance, but their is too much blood and gore. I was foolish enough to be eating as I watched this, and I was sick to my stomach. This film doesn't work, which is sad because it had so much potential.

I perceived it as a movie that has an extremely dark humor to it. With the Scottish Cat cursing and the dog sounding like my grandpa, it had me in tears. The only parts that were truly scary were the death scenes. Happy but dumb ending. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have ever laughed at a dead baby joke. Extremely good acting and was very surprised with the quality of it all.

One of the most intrigiung and strange movies I've seen, I don't quite know how I feel about this movie. I absolutely LOVE Ryan Reynolds, and this may be his most complex role yet as a man struggling with his own mind and the voices he has within. Definitely disturbing but somehow sad, this movie battled with my feelings of this mentally ill man, and I didn't know whether to be disgusted by him, or feel pitiful for him. Truly a diverse movie that goes behind the scenes of a troubled man.
