The Void was a very enjoyable scifi/fantasy horror/thriller. There were a couple plot details I didn't anticipate, but the overall plot was nothing too crazy. Use of tension was nice, I appreciated the lack of jump-scares. Nothing particularly groundbreaking, but an enjoyable movie for sure. The acting was decent, and I enjoyed the fairly realistic interactions between characters in a high-stress situation as depicted.

This is a somewhat messy Lovecraft-via-John-Carpenter pastiche, with suitably enigmatic images and rubbery, slimy, gory special effects. The key to maximizing one's enjoyment, I think, is to imagine it as a re-enactment of a session of the "Call of Cthulhu" RPG where the players are rolling poorly and missing most of their Sanity checks... I like that sort of thing so it's on the 4-star end of 3.5 stars for me. For someone else it might be more like 2.5 or 3 stars. Fun, and scary-gross towards the end, but not great.

Absolutely loved The Void. Please give us a prequel. Not being allowed to watch horror films as a kid I would imagine how scary they must be for me to not be allowed to see them. I quickly fell in love with horror once I got to watch it but nothing ever out did my imagination. The Void was my worst nightmare and then a little more. Keep making great movies and thank you for this one.
