Spoiler alert in this review!! :) This film is an extremely trippy and fun psychedelic adventure in re-telling the 2005 movie "Stay." The ending is exactly the same as the original, but with a few fun mind-bending twists. The 2005 version with Ryan Gosling is more of a psychological thriller and horror-type fantasy as reality begins breaking down around him, while 'The Wave' is experienced as a rolling cascade, or trip. I highly recommend both films! No idea if the production has any official affiliation with the original filmmakers, but the story and ending shot follows the exact same narrative; a trippy-as hell adventure in brain death and your life slowly flashing before your eyes as the end draws nearer,. and it's a beautifully done "end" in this version. I enjoyed this immensely.

Well to be informative I had enjoyed it by the end. For not being mainstream it told a good story. I could watch it without the mind being attached to any idea or concept. It very loosely let me know that truth may be revealed but other truths are harder to expand on. Very much like the way the movie description says about truth and reality. Goes deep into the subconscious that needs resolution. Better simply there were some good displays of finding common ground in abstract experiences. Watching Justin Long go through that as the main character a good break from one's reality.

Imagine the drug-induced visuals of Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas with the frenetic pacing and singularity of purpose in Running Scared. The Wave is an amazing, thrilling ride that throws you back and forth through reality and hyper-reality from start to finish. Fantastic performances by the entire cast, immaculate visuals that capture and inspire the imagination. What a fantastic start to 2020!
