About this movie

Starring Academy Award winner Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardener) in a remarkable lead performance, The Whistleblower is a ripped-from-the-headlines thriller inspired by shocking actual events.

Kathryn Bolkovac (Weisz) is a Nebraskan police officer who accepts a well-paying UN peacekeeping job in post-war Bosnia. Working for a private contractor, the International Police Task Force is responsible for training local law enforcement bodies to restore order to the war-torn country.

As she begins to get the lay of the land in her new environment, Kathryn starts to see signs of a shocking underground human sex trafficking industry, whose patrons are not only from within the corporation but from within the United Nations itself. Her expectations of helping rebuild a devastated country are dashed when she uncovers a dangerous reality of corruption, cover-up and diplomatic immunity amidst an expansive trafficking ring. As Kathryn works to divulge the scandal, the UN does its utmost to keep her quiet.

With a supporting cast including David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck), Vanessa Redgrave (Atonement) and Monica Bellucci (Malèna). The Whistleblower is a powerful and purposeful thriller based on the true story of a single woman's quest for justice in the face of a truth no one wanted to expose. © 2010 WHISTLEBLOWER (GEN ONE) CANADA INC.
