An absolute masterclass from Mr Robert Eggers. Where has he been hiding?! He was the sundance winner for best director in 2015 - after watching the film I must say it is thoroughly deserved especially since I've watched everything else he basically competed against. The direction he takes genuinely transforms this relatively simple story into one so fluent and eerie and beautiful. This is not a film for people seeking cheap thrills, this is something more, and to those of us who invest ourselves into the story and cinematography really take in what is being displayed, not always bare, will find this experience extremely rewarding - and in this case very creepy. The kind of "I should'nt be watching this" creepy. This is hands down my favourite film of all time. I absolutely love it when directors and the team extract the absolute maximum from a screenplay from a rather small budget (by today's standards) and give us aritists of world some genuine inspiration. Their attention to detail was really good - all the little things in all the little ways. Of course the star of the show, outside of cast, is the director and his entire team. Thank you Mr Eggers!

Save your money and watch the trailer for free on YouTube.. That's pretty much it. Or skip to the last five minutes, cause this movie was the biggest disappointment I've had for years. They had a great opportunity to finally make a decent and "authentic" witch-flick, but instead they managed to drag it out with boring dialog and dullness. :(
