About this movie

Reimagining Roald Dahl's beloved story for a modern audience, Robert Zemeckis's visually innovative THE WITCHES tells the darkly humorous and heartwarming tale of a young orphaned boy (Bruno) who, in late 1967, goes to live with his loving Grandma (Spencer) in the rural Alabama town of Demopolis. The boy and his grandmother come across some deceptively glamorous but thoroughly diabolical witches, so Grandma wisely whisks our young hero away to an opulent seaside resort. Regrettably, they arrive at precisely the same time that the world's Grand High Witch (Hathaway) has gathered her fellow cronies from around the globe—undercover—to carry out her nefarious plans.

Film looks good from the trailer, so rating is based on the two minutes presented, but looks to be fun to view with the family. All star cast - academy award winners and nominees - so top notch the performances should be. My wife read the book and liked it. I have never heard of this title, so no hating from us.

Why was this Made? Because someone with Money thought they could do Better. Is there 0 Original Ideas left in Hollywood that we Get Recycled Movies like this? If this is the Future if entertainment, We're all in Trouble.

A fair bit of diverging adaptation from the book, to the point of it being a different story all together. I enjoyed the story regardless, music, scenery and acting were well worth the money!
