About this movie

Maria, a young woman finds refuge in a house in the south of Chile after escaping from a sect of German religious fanatics. She is welcomed into the home by two pigs, the only inhabitants of the place. Like in a dream, the universe of the house reacts to Maria’s feelings. The animals transform slowly into humans and the house becomes a nightmarish world. Inspired on the actual case of Colonia Dignidad, “The Wolf House” masquerades as an animated fairy tale produced by the leader of the sect in order to indoctrinate its followers. A New York Times critic's pick and hailed as a newly minted masterpiece of stop motion animation, The Wolf House is a singular cinematic experience that conjures up the films of David Lynch, Jan Svankmajer and The Brother Quay.

Absolutely stunning piece of magical realism with one of the most interesting visual styles I have ever seen in a film. Words cannot convey the power of this film, just watch the official trailer and you'll know if you need to see this or not. Very(!) dark but beautiful too. If you haven't heard of Colonia Dignidad before, it may be worth skimming through their history before watching, but it's definitely not necessary to enjoy this masterpiece.
