Good on the inside, tortured on the outside, loses personal power, gets hurt, gives up. WAVES FLAG. Tries harder, ridiculous scene of self mutilation with gritted teeth. Tries harder, fixed on the outside, healed on the inside. Baddy suddenly has 2 tonne Adamantium Ironman. WHAT! Need to learn from James Bond how to set up a villain in a mountain hideout for a big finish. Old Japanese man idea was right, application done by idiots with no olds comics (written by 10 year old grandson)

Without doubt the weakest of the franchise so far. I did cry at the end though, I wished I'd spent the money on something better. I'd have been on the edge of my seat (if the seat had been smaller). This has done for X-Men what bubonic plague did for Europe. Avoid.

Better than 90% of the other Marvel attempts and the best xmen film to date. More adult with better action and more depth and interesting characters than most comic book films. Not quite The Dark Knight but the closest any Marvel character film has gotten to it yet. It is a far more cerebral, adult and introverted comic book film than any other Xmen, Marvel or hell even any comic book movie to date, actually delving into the hero's psyche unlike any we have seen with maybe the exception of Batman Begins, seeing what is actually going on inside his head, motivating him (or at the start of the movie de-motivating him!) to do and say what he does. This is a risky and bold direction for a summer blockbuster to go in forgoing, mostly, the usual big bang for your buck ideas that put bums on seats, this is one for fans of the character more than most comic book movies, but for most of this unusual ride James Mangold steers the ship on an exhilirating, beautiful and down write brutal ride only once or twice coming close to the rocks.
