Based on the novel by New York Times best-selling author Ron Rash. Travis is a teenage dropout living in a small Appalachian town in North Carolina. He stumbles on a crop of marijuana in the woods and seeing an opportunity to make some easy money, begins stealing plants from the grove. The ruthless head of the growing operation sets out after Travis to protect his crop, beginning Travis' struggle with the evil in his community. Travis begins living with a disgraced drug dealing school teacher outside of town and the outcast become entwined as they struggle between the corruption of their surroundings and a new chance at life.
