Apie šį filmą

A sprawling epic of family, faith, power and oil, THERE WILL BE BLOOD is set on the incendiary frontier of California's turn-of-the-century petroleum boom. The story chronicles the life and times of one Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day-Lewis), who transforms himself from a down-and-out silver miner raising a son on his own into a self-made oil tycoon. When Plainview gets a mysterious tip-off that there's a little town out West where an ocean of oil is oozing out of the ground, he heads with his son, H.W. (Dillon Freasier), to take their chances in dust-worn Little Boston. In this hardscrabble town, where the main excitement centers around the holy roller church of charismatic preacher Eli Sunday (Paul Dano), Plainview and H.W. make their lucky strike. But even as the well raises all of their fortunes, nothing will remain the same as conflicts escalate and every human value -- love, hope, community, belief, ambition and even the bond between father and son -- is imperiled by corruption, deception and the flow of oil.

I give it 3-3.5/4 stars but for the way stars on Google play are then yes it gets 5. It's worth watching for sure if you like gangs of new York youll, probably enjoy film. You have to be smart enough to enjoy and pick up on all the nuances sometimes... for people who see a title, there will be blood and want a gore and guts movie.. then do yourself a favor; rent some lousy horror film. For 98% of people this movie is very good, agreed a little slow, but helps to express the understanding of the amount of time and work (wather or not you feel it is underhanded, just tough business to succeed, or all justifiable do to the simplicity of the people affected) It's entertaining, well written, and IMO not necessarily historically correct but realistic in most aspects.

I believe it made #3 on one official list. It's both literal and symbolic - I consider it art house drama-horror, because aside from the literal story of a psychopathic oil man and robber baron capitalist, vs a turn of the century protestant preacher, I think *SPOILER* it's addressing the loss of the church to big oil at the end. Some people thought the end was weird, but it's highly symbolic of the corruption in America in present day. Plus I just love "new Westerns" like this and True Grit,

This is my personal favourite movie of all time. I've seen it seven times now and with every view it gets even better! Daniel Day-Lewis gives an unprecedented performance. Robert Elswitt's cinematography makes for some of the best long takes I've ever seen. Johnny Greenwood's harrowing soundtrack amplifies every scene. All of this extravagance was under the helm of Paul Thomas Anderson, who I consider to be (if not the greatest) one of the greatest, filmmakers still living. Give it a watch or two! Or ten!
