About this movie

From the director of Knocked Up and The 40-Year-Old Virgin comes an unfiltered, comedic look inside the life of an American family. After years of marriage, Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann) are approaching a milestone meltdown. As they try to balance romance, careers, parents and children in their own hilarious ways, they must also figure out how to enjoy the rest of their lives. Featuring Melissa McCarthy, Jason Segel, Megan Fox, John Lithgow and Albert Brooks, This Is 40 is a candid and heartwarming comedy about the challenges and rewards of marriage and parenthood in the modern age.

This film released to poor reviews that I don't believe it deserved. The film was criticized for lacking laughs but I think it delivered enough on the comedic front and more than made up for any lack of comedy by taking itself seriously and adding drama to the picture.

Not a comedy, at all. The trailer sure looked funny. It turned out to be the worst movie I've seen in a long, long time. Except for the kids, every single character is the pinnacle of annoyance, just a bunch of whiny, petty, uninteresting people. No redeeming qualities, of any kind. By the time it was over I hated them all, which is an impressive achievement. What a waste of my time.

This movie is not funny. Actors are not funny. What happened to real comedians like Robin Williams, Jim Carry, Rodney Dangerfield, Eddie Murphy, Terence Hill. Producers and Hollywood forgot how to make a comedy. I did not laugh out loud once in this movie.
