but it was better as a book.. this movie is so so slow and convoluted .. For some reason the director had to result to violence to keep the pace going ... ie mother nursing baby gets shot in head in scene 2. tortured victims.. lady getting the crap beat out her. etc. what the heck. I was waiting for the zombies to show up. None of that stuff was in the book.... the book is intriguing on its own standing. There is absolutely no character follow though, people pop up here and there... back in history, and forward in history but it seems random... I know what they are trying to portray from the book, however the director kept missing key elements that carry the story along. I have watched some pretty deep mystery movies, where you have to really figure out the plot. But this movie is one where I wish there is a way I cold un see it.

This is actually a very technical movie. Filled with complex shots, amazing lighting, and fantastic foley and sound design. When you watch it be sure to look for more of the technical elements as they are quite impressive. As far as just a movie, there are ups and downs. The pacing was a bit off (partly do to the showcasing of technical elements early in the movie) but overall it's a decent film. 3.5/5 for the story, but adding a half star for the excellent technical aspects.

Saw this movie in the theaters.the previews looked interesting. Understood the story and liked the acting but this was way longer than needed. First movie i sat through with mainly a 60+ age audience.where they came out dumb founded. First movie that ive ever felt i could have really not watched and been better off.
