About this movie

Tolkien explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school. This takes him into the outbreak of World War I, which threatens to tear the "fellowship" apart. All of these experiences would inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-Earth novels.

Big let down... I knew just from the previews it wasn't going to be all that it could have been.. Tbh, they should have focused more of his time in WW1 and all that Tolkien did throughout. Redo the movie, make it R. Show what times actually were like and again his life.

Beautifully told.. expected more fantasy but the film dealt more with the difficulties and tragedies and triumphs of Tolkien's life in a realistic but uplifting way.. I could imagine this was exactly the way his early life played out and how it culminated in his genius... music is exquisite.. highly recommend tho I realize this kind of bio wouldn't necessarily have universal appeal...

I'm not really sure why all the bad reviews/comments, my family and I enjoyed this movie immensely. Being somewhat of a moral value type family, this movie in particular hit on a cylinders, love between the mother and her children, the caring or looking out for the Tolkien boys, the way manhood was portrayed (honorable), I could go on, but the Cinematography, Music, and Acting all get high marks, just hard to find movies of this quality anymore, enjoy this movie, you will not be disappointed.
