About this movie

In this "absurdly entertaining" thriller (New York Times), Academy Award® Nominee John Hawkes "gives the performance of his career" (Ain't It Cool News) as Private Investigator Mel Sampson. When tasked with tracking down a woman from his own past, Sampson finds himself navigating the dark corners of Southern California and the menagerie of eccentric personalities and lost souls who inhabit it. Filmed in a series of stunning unbroken takes and featuring a gut-wrenching, tour-de-force by John Hawkes, TOO LATE tells the story of a missing woman, but paints the portrait of a lost man.

Probably a good read, but the acting was pathetic. You realize about about five minutes in that the actors are incapable of delivering convincing performance. If the idea of watching people rattle off clichéd lines one behind the other is entertaining, this is your show. This movie attempts to move in time, and fails. And the dialogue is like listening to a chronic case of hiccups. Like the actors just showed up the morning of the shoot and realized they should be doing something better with their time

My biggest criticism is the one camera/single shot (no cuts) panning back and forth in some scenes made me dizzy. There were only 2 instances of that in the whole movie though, so it was not a deal breaker. If you can ignore the fact it's a total Tarantino rip off, including the soundtrack, it's very entertaining. Held my interest throughout, which is kind of rare. Good movie.

this movie is so much like a quentin terentino film without the over the top plot within a plot theme. Funny enough , john hawkes actually shoots terentino in From dusk till dawn (robert rodriguez film). If you like thriller, plot twist, beautiful raw acting..your gonna love this movie.
