It was more then a comedy, I loved it. I love that it had a spin on it with the Cinderella syndrome. Would have loved to have seen the car at the end go back to get him woman. But it still alright, I smiled like there was no tomorrow at the end. I've not watch to many movies that have cussing in them because of my grandchildren so I've been out of the lope for a while, I want them to see and listen to positive songs and movie with no cussing. I saw the previews for Top Five and I don't know I just bought it. The great part is I'm glad I got it. So not only was it a great comedy movie, it also can be categorized as a great romance. To me anyway Chris Rock & Rosario Dawson were awesome, loved it.

I really wanted to like this movie. It's written in the vein of some of my favorite Linklater movies like Before Sunset except that the dialogue is too mean spirited for its context. A lot of what is said mirrors the great life observations one would hear in a Chris Rock stand-up show. Unfortunately, when placed in the context of everyday conversation between two people, it comes off a bit forced and unrealistic in terms of the delivery of the insights and the reactions to what is said. I like the intentions of this film, but it really needed another layer of abstraction between stand-up and it's application to dialogue...Louie does a really good job of this.

If you expected a lot of comedy, you wont get much. This film does have funny highlights but this film is mostly about chris rocks character trying to transition into other things but his fame in the industry won't let him. It also goes to show some funny aspects of how we view things in society. This movie is funny, and especially smart, if your brain can't process more than an IQ of a peanut, don't watch this film. Would definitely say this is an underrated film to many. I recommend this to anyone.
