About this movie

The remarkable true story of Robyn Davidson (Mia Wasikowska), a young woman who leaves her life in the city to make a solo trek through almost 2,000 miles of sprawling Australian desert. Along the way, she meets National Geographic photographer Rick Smolan (Adam Driver) who begins to photograph her voyage. 2013 See-Saw (Tracks) Holdings Pty Limited, A.P. While this film gives great details of the physical journey at times it felt there was little insight into the internal journey and how Davidson was transformed by this experience. Was the journey cathartic? Unlike Wild we are given little sense of transformation. Still beautifully shot and with good performances from Wasikowska and Driver.

The cinematography is just inspirational and beautiful. Some may find the pace slow but I found it reflecting and moving. I very much like this artful, emotional film.

The book was fantastic. This is a poor enactment of the book written by Robyn.
