At nearly 30, and dependent on his parents for financial support, New Yorker Jeff is hurtling down the tracks of life with no-one at the wheel. An active participant in numerous therapy groups he attempts to justify his problems citing, rant-style, a litany of real and self-diagnosed syndromes – ADD; learning disabilities;Tourette’s; and a balance problem. With his personal train wreck racing into view Jeff meets Lynn (Gretchen Mol), a quirky, beautiful woman who is charmed by his funny and touching stories. She encourages him to try stand-up comedy –but before he can get to it he is evicted from his apartment for skipping the rent and annoying the neighbours with his Tourette-induced late night fantasy basketball games."
