Acerca de esta película

Dr. Will Caster is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. His highly controversial experiments have made him famous, but they have also made him the prime target of anti-technology extremists who will do whatever it takes to stop him. However, in their attempt to destroy Will, they inadvertently become the catalyst for him to succeed to be a participant in his own transcendence. For his wife Evelyn and friend Max, both fellow researchers, the question is not if they can but if they should. Their worst fears are realized as Wills thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power to what end is unknown. The only thing that is becoming terrifyingly clear is there may be no way to stop him. 2014 Alcon Entertainment

"Transcendence" was promoted in a way that obscured the deep imagining at the core of the film's premise: a single, great evolutionary leap to a collective mind and virtual immortality. I'll give it 4 stars......mainly because the people opposing the change were too cartoonish, simple and lacked depth. Johnny Depp does a good job of being a thoughful geek at the outset....and then being "a little off" as his digitised self. I'm sure audiences will struggle to interpret what he's attempting: to portray a man who has become machine. Few models to emulate there. Depp manages to avoid too much cliche. Well done, Johnny.

The film ultimately tries hard to be profound and deep but misses the mark by superficially tacking in references to things like environmental damage when there was no earlier reference to them. Simply stating an issue doesn't address it. The film builds up to the expectation of some kind of climax that doesn't really happen. There is a climax of sorts but it doesn't really conclude the movie and tie up the story as you would expect it to. It had potential but this movie was quite poorly thought out.

I thought the acting was good. You may think the plot becomes weak but it requires you to think a bit. The virus takes him down by his own choice and it gets to him via his wife. He chooses this to occur. If really is him - but taking over humans he justifies by the good he can do. He could have harnessed weapons like drones to protect himself but that's against his values.
