By no means a fantastic film, but it certainly does not deserve one star! The CGI is surprisingly good, and the way it has been filmed is also pretty great. The storyline is lacking in places and appears to be thrown together in a couple of places to make it possible for the plot to continue. It's a tried and tested style, but this one works. The scenery is beautiful, the acting isn't all that bad, and most of all, trolls rule. Definitely worth a watch with the subtitles. (seriously, don't be THAT lazy).

While it was enjoyable when I watched it on bluray with English language (dubbed), I think it may be better with the original Norwegian language and English subs. The American voice acting was atrocious and really took away from the movie. Fortunately, for the people that can not watch a movie AND read subs at the same time for whatever reason, a remake is being done and should be out by 2014. Will probably be based in Virginia with lots of United States military firepower. Bo yeah!

Don't expect to be scared, and be prepared for some fairly lame dubbing. But still a decent movie. Not brilliant, and nowhere near the level of Cloverfield in terms of suspense or effects (though the handheld camera viewpoint makes it feel a bit similar), yet the trolls are quite well done, in a brothers Grimm sort of way, and you'll want to see how it ends.
