About this movie

TRUE LEGEND sees the return to the director's chair after 14 years of the actor and legendary choreographer behind the brilliant action sequences of Kill Bill Vols. 1 & 2, The Matrix series and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Yuen Woo Ping. The film follows the life of martial arts legend Beggar Su (Vincent Zhao: "Once Upon a Time in China" series), beginning as his half brother Yuan Lie turns against him and his family, killing his father and taking his son prisoner. Unable to defeat his unstoppable '5 Venom Fist' style Su falls into a deep depression, and as he and his wife are forced into exile he turns to drinking. As his passion for martial arts returns, so does a burning desire for revenge. He turns to the god of Wushu to hone his 'Drunken Fist' skills for the coming battle with his bitter enemy.

I like Kung Fu movies generally but this one is wicked. It is quite a tragic story, but more than makes up for it with ridiculous fight scenes, the drunken Japanese guy for example - who shows Su that fighting styles are obselete, or does he? Also briefly features David Carradine which is the icing on the cake. Would strongly recommend to anyone who likes Jet Li's work, especially Twin Warriors.
