my first experience and memory of this thrilling movie was afterward I truly was amazed at how many times this movie put me on the edge of my seat and created such a since of impending dread when you heard announced by sonar station "splashes" and in the distance the increasing sound and force of explosions drawing nearer and nearer my hands ached from clinching them into fists and had truly quite a few" white knuckled " moments during this movie. story, pace, tone excellent. acting is fantastic

No matter how many depth charges were dropped, or how deep they went, the submarine still remained afloat after all the chaos it went through and wouldn't go down without a fight. I am a history buff and that is one of the reasons why I like this movie a lot. From what I've read, I can tell it's based on three Nazi u boats from World War 2, U-110, U-505, and U-570.

It's an entertaining enough movie, so it gets some stars for that, it seemed to have all it needs to be just that. However, it portrays an American crew. I think that most people should know that it was a British ship, and a British crew that boarded a German U-Boat and found themselves a pot of gold in the form of the naval decoding machine. Other than the fact that there is a massive historical discrepancy, it's a good movie. If you like a good war movie, I guess this movie might be good for you.
