It was so bad, it was almost good. The trailer teases you and tells you it will be an adventure. Instead it's a brutal mind f*** with no resolve. It was like the writer left the project 3/4 of the way through the movie.

Under the Silver Lake is unlike any new film you will see this year. It's strange and mysterious. Some might call it pretentious but maybe that's it's goal. You won't be able to solve all the layered mysteries and you will come to your own conclusions. I think I know who the dog killer is. I think I understand why Andrew Garfield smells throughout the movie and I think I understand what the owl lady represents. It's a long film but if you're in the mood for a neo-noir mystery, check it out.

A great re-imagining of the Film Noir genre that's bleak, funny, and truly unpredictable. One of the most unforgiving films in recent memory and I couldn't mean that as higher praise.
