Would get 5 stars if I was looking for a hidden meaning, sadly a great concept lost with a David Lynch style art house film. For most though you will see it as dull self indulgent mess which drags on with nonsensical conversations, distant frozen images (as he did I Birth) and some nudity. Very disposing, especially as an alien coming to Glasgow would be a great plot.

A slow, surreal, and very art-house sci-fi film. Very little of the story is explained or even contextualised at all - think David Lynch's more challenging work. But in spite of the fact that its glacial pace and lack of dialogue risk frustrating some viewers, if you can make your peace with it there are many haunting and memorable scenes, and a strange, innocent beauty to be found. Go into it ready to be patient, or give it a miss if you get bored by slow, arty films.

Marmite film. An ARTHOUSE sci fi masterpiece. Under the Skin plays like a feminist version of Predator. There's limited context about why Johannson's alien does what she does but the discoveries we make with 'her' are chilling and sad. A very weird alien invasion spin on The Man Who Fell to Earth. The soundtrack is absolutely perfect too.
