The 'official' reviews couldn't be more wrong. This campy melodrama is excessive in every way: so cheesy, so over-acted (thanks mostly to Patty Duke), so over-the-top, and also so delightfully prudish. The result is pure joy, like watching someone in a tacky outfit strutting around proudly and wishing you could be that awesomely unselfconscious. If only all bad movies were this good.
