Acerca desta película

The true story of Australia's most notorious convict, Alexander Pearce, and his infamous escape into the beautiful yet brutal Tasmanian wilderness. In 1822, Pearce and seven other convicts escaped from the isolated Macquarie Harbour Penal Station on the wind-lashed western coast of Van Diemen's Land. This band of Irish, English and Scottish thieves were immediately hurled into chaos as their bid for freedom floundered, and they were thrust into the heart of a harsh and foreboding landscape. With little food or equipment, in a place these immigrants knew little about, they battled a merciless enemy: the unforgiving, barren land. A land where God wields an axe. 2009 NOISE & LIGHT PTY LTD

This movie is gritty and shocking in its simple but very realistic display of violence, which is definitely not for the faint hearted viewers. You won't find fast action or fountains of blood, instead the constant moody and dark atmosphere of this movie will leave you with a very bitter aftertaste that stays in your head for a while.

Frightening portrayal of the cruelty of incarceration during those times. And the seriously mind blowing results that desperate prisoners risked, by escaping. Highly recommended! HTC One M7, Kitcat 4.4.3. Sense 6.0. Australia.

When people ask me about my home, this is what I tell them to watch. The movie doesn't tell the whole Pearce story, arguably it finishes before it gets really weird. Nor does it tell the story of Tasmania either. But the sense of place that it gives remains unmatched in cinema. A stunning debut by an underrated creator.
