Vessel is the real-life story of a young doctor, a boat, and an unlikely idea to help the world’s most vulnerable women. Horrified by anti-abortion laws around the world, Rebecca Gomperts devised an unconventional solution: providing safe abortions on a ship in international waters, thereby circumventing local laws. This thought-provoking documentary follows Gomperts’ creation of Women on Waves, the ensuing media and government frenzy, and its transformation from a wildly improbable plan into a global movement.
