Look movie makers. If you just insist on making boring movies don't add insult to injury for those of us who see a stories great potential and grind our way through the gruelling two hours or more hoping fruitlessly that the movie somehow redeems itself before the end only to be left sitting there with nothing but bloodshot eyes and regret. Just make them shorter and let us get past them quickly so we can move on with our lives.

I don't know lf I like it or not. There were some very good scenes in it but the "Frankenstein" monster was just too violent. Now Dr Frankenstein freeing Igor was so heart warming. I felt so bad for Igor n then he turned into a fine young man n to win the heart of his fellow circus performer whom always nice to Igor. That was my favorite part. Hmmmm. So I'm undecided between a rating of 3 n 4.. so I'm stuck at a 3 1/2 stars

This retelling of the Mary Shelley novel, while a departure from the story, effectively examines the hubris of man while also adding a exceptionally human aspect to the story. I thought Daniel Radcliffe as Igor was interesting in that Igor isn't actually a inane assistant but rather a cast-away urchin who has scraped and learned his medical trade while he is enslaved by the circus master. The beginning of this film felt very much like the 2009 Sherlock Holmes film starring Robert Downey Jr. It was set in a very similar period in London and the sets had the same sort of lush grime depicted in that film. Once Igor is "transformed" he quickly shows his advanced medical knowledge when Victor unveils his "eye-opening" experiment. I thought the whole section of the film involving Gordon was a good stepping stone to demonstrate a progression and was a whole lot more believable than animating very small animals as in other stories and film adaptations. Andrew Scott as the creepy Detective Turpin and Jessica Findley Lorelei were good supporting characters but it was Radcliffe and James McAvoy who commanded the viewer's attention.
