Watched this movie for three reasons: actors' duet and the title. As I see some reviews say it is rather "silly" in ways, I see this movie as the pinicle of the German mind, that is shown especially in the surname. As most of us know, Germans are pretty...messed up, in a way of non spiritual, rather than self-identified, empty shells, that they are. Mr. Frankenstein, played by McAvoy (Split, X-Men), shown his rage of passion and goal-achievement, whenever he get the oportunity to become more than human, but still he still is a human who's trying to live up to the creation's level. Good step forward, but lots of dead corpses along and thanks to his ego, he is blinded by the true bromans he has with Igor - portrayed by Mr. Radcliff (Harry Potter, Horns). Those two make an upstounding duo of a real chemistry in the movie. And image, those two's heights are pretty much lacking in today's movies. Only them and Tom Cruise are the ones who still make a difference around the others who are easier to be casted, due to their tallness. I liked this movie, for its groteskness and realism, simply because...it's not that easy to create life, and even harder when you...recycle it.

The director clerly tried to do what Guy Ritchie did with Sherlock Holmes. However, it may have worked once, but it won't work again. As much as I enjoyed it, I still think that Guy Ritchie only actually managed to make it work with Sherlock Holmes. Mr. McGuigan should have tried a different take on this story, like Brett Ratner did with Hercules, which would have spread more positive reviews from critics, rather than copying a director who has more experience in film making than him. Sorry Mr. McGuigan.😑

I came to this film with no baggage, having not seen any trailers or read any reviews. In fact, I did not even know of its existence before browsing the list on Google Play. I found this an unexpected joy. Not to be taken too seriously, best if you just go along for the ride. The two leads had great chemistry and clearly had fun. Yes, we know the jist of the story so most of the plot is a variation on a well-worn theme, but it was darkly camp enough to hold my interest throughout.
