Maya Vitkova's stunning debut feature VIKTORIA follows three generations of women in the final years of communist Bulgaria, focusing on reluctant mother Boryana and her daughter Viktoria. Born without an umbilical cord, Viktoria is heralded as a medical marvel and named the country's Baby of the Decade. Although Viktoria is showered with gifts and attention by the communist regime, she is still unwanted by her own mother. But with the disintegration of the East bloc, Viktoria and Boryana's lives are thrown off balance, forcing them to confront each other.
