About this movie

Madonna's beautifully crafted film tells the story of Wally Winthrop (Abbie Cornish of LIMITLESS, SUCKER PUNCH), a lonely New Yorker who finds a welcome escape from her troubled relationship when she begins to explore the ultimate love story: King Edward VIII's (James D'Arcy of MASTER AND COMMANDER) scandalous abdication of the British throne for the woman he loved, American divorcée Wallis Simpson (Andrea Riseborough of HAPPY-GO-LUCKY). Wally's research begins at a 1998 Sotheby's auction of the Windsor Estate and takes her on a journey of discovery that reveals how hard it is to live out the world's greatest romance. As she learns more about the sacrifices Wallis made in choosing to be with Edward, Wally finds the courage to make the tough choices in order to create her own happiness.

It is a fascinating story, to give up everything for the woman you love. I think Madonna did a decent job in directing this story from Wallis Simpson's point-of-view. I was impressed by the acting. Also, Madonna should keep it up. She can only get better in Directing. We need more women Directors.

Not a bad movie like so many here and elsewhere are claiming it to be. I watched it last night and I was impressed by it. Madonna did a great job for this being her first attempt at directing a major motion picture.

Not the best movie I've seen BUT nowhere near the worst. For Madoona it is better than anything else she's. But the movie just seemed too desparate to be taken seriously. Unfortunately it never will be.
