None of these ape movies have been any good. But i knew it was doomed in the opening scene when an entire patrol is stumbling in a file through a draw then stumbles on their target. Does no recon, sets up 0 security and engages. Rotc cadets know that isnt how you do a raid. From then on just a mess. It was like they were shooting scenes loosely based on each other. My fav: the girl cries when the big ape dies. She had no, none, 0, nada connection, to it and based off 1 scene where he puts a flower in her hair less than 10 min later hes dead and she bawling. You could say shes a girl death is traumatic, blah, blah. NOPE! We meet this girl as she walks out and looks at dads dead body and doesnt even flinch. While instantly bonding with the ape that handed her her doll. Shes got daddy issues. Shes gonna grow up to be a prostitute. Too bad she lives w apes... Thats the sequel. She gets knocked up by an ape and they struggle to get by in their post apocalypse world... 💩

Unlike most sequels, you don't need binge watch the first two films in the reboot, "Planet of the Apes", series to enjoy "War for the Planet of the Apes". It is an interesting film without the backstory. Matt Reeves does a great job incorporating text features to highlight and summarize key events in the previous films for the new viewer. Caesar, symbolically named, struggles with a new tragic flaw in this film as he desperately seeks a new home for his colony of intellectual evolved apes. The humans have been completely ravaged by the Simian Flu and a military society is left to prevent the apes from gaining total control of the planet. I believe anything above three stars is extraordinary. With this in mind, I am giving the film three stars; it was good, not great. The effects were awesome and riveting at times. Reeves definitely took creative freedom and made a science fiction flick realistic. Notably, the storyline was centered around the apes. They had not quite evolved to full-blown conversation; as a result, the grunting and signing made for lengthy periods that left me wanting to take a break. Overall, it was entertaining, but lacking depth.

this movies pulls a star wars in the fact that it takes verious elements of other movies and rolls them into one. but all aside its fairly entertaining but for me it the scoring and the simple minded monkey character kinda broke the flow of seriousness the movie would have had. the little girl's only real roll was to be a plot device and an angelic figure that saves ceaser. once again it was decent good for a single watch, but nothing i would go back to. Dawn was the better of the trilogy. also would like to add woody harrelson LOL
