A contemporary retelling of H.G.Wells' classic, the sci-fi thriller reveals the extraordinary battle for the future of humankind through the eyes of one American family. Fleeing from an extraterrestrial army of killer Tripods that annihilate everything in their path, Ray Ferrier (Cruise) races to keep his family safe.
Americans often wreck classic British novels, but this adaptation is quite good and much better than the first American version from the 1950s. More faithful too. Still Orson Welles radioplay remains the greatest adaptation to another medium and Jeff Wayne's classic musical version is also superior.
best SciFi does it beat the original? i love them both tbh and i think both movies compliment each other. Robbie is annoying in newest tho the sap ๐
