Like the graphic novel upon which this movie is based on, it was ahead of its time. I believe that this movie has only gotten better and more relevant with age in terms of both complicated superhero movies and, funnily enough, politics. It's not something to leave on in the background. This movie requires intense watching and your attention must never waver from it. There's simply too much interesting information that will otherwise go unappreciated. If you're a fan of darker superhero adaptations (The Boys TV series comes to mind; both that and Watchmen explore similar ideas but Watchmen has arguably a little less gore), then I would definitely recommend you watch it.

Despite an overly-long runtime & a complex storyline, the films' dark & gritty tone as well as its "Crime Thriller" atmosphere make this a must watch.

it's one of the most underrated cbm... the tone is just really fit the crime-thriller genre... I truly recommend the director's cut, it flesh of more details and there's this one hidden story that just completed the whole essence of the movie... just brilliant
