Wonderful movie! 4.25/5 I suppose. I want rate it quite high to reflect my love for it, however there are some things that maybe keep it from being a perfect five. When you watch this, keep in mind, that especially with the bad guys, there is an intended humor and comedy going on. Personally I find this makes the movie far more rewatchable with that silly humor making the seriousness of the movie a bit lighter and more amusing. The folks who rate this movie low...well they probably have a very picky (aka weak) sense of humor. The fascinating world that is painted here is quite worth experiencing at least once!

Incredibly, this film ended up with the dubious distinction of appearing on lists of all time worst movies. Unjustified really. Waterworld is a marvelous scifi adventure flick that is being reappraised and better appreciated as the years go by. At the very least, it's well on it's way to being regarded as something of a cult classic. Original, beautifully shot and terrifically entertaining. Enjoy for what it is.

Maybe more for people who grew up around this era to enjoy. I would say if you have not watched it, it is worth a one time glance and you may find yourself loving it.
