“West Michigan” is a terrific film that everyone needs to watch. A delicate dive into the issue of depression with an honest portrait of the complexity of the problem. Actress Chloe Warmoth does a phenomenal job describing the difficulties that teenagers and young adults face when feeling lost because of a mental health problem, with no coping skills to help themselves. Director and actor Riley Warmoth provides a clear representation of the sense of loss one can experience when trying to help someone they love who suffers from depression. I love this film because it feels so real. It also provides a great example of how not to judge those who are going through something you might not personally understand. This is a great story that gives us hope that unconditional love, support, friendship (and therapy) can help us find the right path to joy.
