Tina Fey stars in this wickedly entertaining comedy about finding yourself in the most unlikely of places. Stuck in a rut reporter Kim Baker (Fey) decides to shake things up by leaving her desk job in New York and taking a dangerous assignment in Afghanistan. Far from home and completely out of her comfort zone a culture-shocked Kim befriends an adventurous reporter Tanya Vanderpoel (Margot Robbie) a stern Colonel (Billy Bob Thornton) and a charming photojournalist (Martin Freeman) to help her navigate this crazy new world. Amidst the chaos Kim discovers her true strength as she risks it all to find the next big story.

I was very disappointed in the language used in the movie. Every other word was vulgar, cuss, or something. You couldn't have a scene in this movie without something that would have been beeped out if using a device for editing. That to me is sad. This is a very sad, and serious movie about a war correspondent that goes to Afghanistan and helps bring to light what is happening over there. What is amazing is that she has NO experience and is kind of having a mid life crisis when she makes this decision.

I was a bit disappointed in this one. It was kind of slow, dialog was flat and acting a bit muted. It looked like the actors weren't really interested in the story. Character building was long and boring and the ending was flat as well. It had a few funny moments but I wouldn't call it a comedy. More like a autobiographical fiction. I'd rate this one as a take it or leave it. Watch it if you're bored and love Tina Fey, otherwise, skip it.

A look into the crazy life of a war correspondent amid a subtle condemnation of the "liberated" Afghanistan of today, where Westerners are smacked on the head because they are holding hands, and a reporter is yelled at because she's not wearing her scarf properly on her head. But once that is understood, you may be left wondering why this movie was made at all. I was so far from finding an answer to that question that I didn't even watch the film to the end... As a matter of fact, I want my money back.
