At first Kat is excited by her new freedom, distracted by the boy next door (Shiloh Fernandez) and the cop working the case (Thomas Jane). Coming of age story of a teenage girl in the midst of her mother's depression and decline while witnessing a marriage that was no more. Shailene is brilliant and believable while Eva Green channeled "Penny Dreadful".

This could have been a great movie, but it's just not. The whole first hour is useless. Not worth the time for only 20 minutes worth of a story.

That's a line in the movie. Another is, "Absence makes the heart grow stronger." How about, "It's just one of those vicious circles"? DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!
