Breathtaking and heartbreaking in equal measures. This is a story for women about women. The characters are incredibly far removed from my day to day life so I felt very voyeuristic especially given the nature of the Maori content and mysticism. The overarching themes of race and self hate are universal which anchored my empathy for the characters. Confronting and I feel privileged to have seen it.

An accurate look how cultures into weave into daily routines and how it may broaden each person's view on their life through a different culture
