Über diesen Film

With the dissolution of her marriage and the death of her mother, Cheryl Strayed has lost all hope. After years of reckless, destructive behavior, she makes a rash decision. With absolutely no experience, driven only by sheer determination, Cheryl hikes more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, alone. WILD powerfully captures the terrors and pleasures of one young woman forging ahead against all odds on a journey that maddens, strengthens, and ultimately heals her.

Reese does an outstanding job of putting me into the mindset of Cheryl Strayeds life struggles. I felt her sadness about her Mom and her regret from the fallout of lifes hardships. A beautiful movie with so much emotion. Life is messy and can be so difficult but it's about coming back to nature and our instincts to find yourself and your happiness again. I've watched this movie anytime I need a reminder that life can seem bad but it's up to me to make it better. Putting ourselves in vulnerable situations can teach us so much. If you're afraid of boobies though...not for you.

I love all different types of movies, but I do love a good drama that makes me dive into a persons life and think about what they are going through and why. I adore Reese Witherspoon and felt she was amazing in this movie. Losing someone you love, like her losing her mother so quickly after being diagnosed with cancer can drive any typically responsible person to stray down that path of self destruction. I felt this movie showed how happy her upbringing was, after they left the father and her inability to deal with her mothers death. She adored her mother. I think the clips of her self destructive behavior were not over the top at all, and help show her need to just get high to forget about how much she missed her. I loved the whole process this movie took and especially the end when she talks about the things that happened in her life after she took this journey. The fact that this is based on a true story is awesome. It was worth every cent I paid for it!

It's been my little dream of mine to hike the PCT. I'm 24 now and will when I'm 26. Same as Cheryl was. I read Wild about two years prior the movie. I've had so much happen after college. Not in a good way. Things I can't go back on. She's someone I admire for her strength and courage. I hope the trail can get me to see life in new perspectives. Unfortunately I don't know how I'll even get there, I don't make enough living in South Central LA to afford all the gear (the trip in general), or REI boots. My mother has never ever been outdoorsy, she's also a bit closed minded. I mean I see her point in being worried for my safety on such a hike. At the same time I want to. I've been thinking about it since I read the book and how I could relate to her so much. I hope Google could make me a page to fund this hike. It would be a miracle. Like Cheryl, I have no experience. Just sheer determination. Thank you.
