この映画について

The finest cult film known to humanity! Camden Town, the arse-end of the sixties. Two struggling, unemployed actors decide some respite is in order and so depart their miserable flat for a week in the Lake District i one that will involve rain, booze, minimal supplies, a randy bull and an even randier Uncle Monty. Based on the real-life experiences of former actor-turned-writer/director Bruce Robinson, Withnail & I has become one of British cinemas most fondly remembered comedies. A cult film in the truest sense that has also become a classic. Perfectly cast i with career-defining roles for Richard E. Grant, Paul McGann, Richard Griffiths and Ralph Brown i and crammed with irresistibly quotable dialogue, Withnail & I is a sheer delight, even on the umpteenth viewing.

It's not for everyone, but this film is artful, bizarre, hilarious and deeply philosophical at the same time as capturing the hangover at the end of the 60s. If you've ever woken up with an evil hangover, or ever felt stuck in a world that has failed to live up to its promises, or ever faced off with a cow in a field before being molested by your best friend's uncle, then this film is for you.

Absolute cracker of a film and been in my top 3 since the day I first saw it as a teenager. I must have watched it a 100 times since, and know the script almost verbatim, but it never becomes boring. I'll still be watching it when I'm an old man, and I'll still enjoy every minute. RIP Richard Griffiths. Stole the show with every scene he was in. Sublime film, amazing soundtrack, wonderful script and characters and acted to perfection. A true classic.
