Informazioni su questo film

Six bold people navigate the dangerous waters of Pakistan's current crisis to discover a new tomorrow: a cricket star starts a progressive political party, a female journalist goes behind Taliban lines, an ex-mujahid seeks redemption, a trucker crosses dangerous territory to feed his family, a supermodel pushes feminism through fashion, and a subversive Sufi rocker uses music to heal. Filmed by a team of Americans and Pakistanis over two years, Without Shepherds cuts through alarmist media depictions of the country to celebrate the bravery of its people.

I rarely watch documentaries, but given the role Pakistan is playing in current world affairs, I felt it incumbent upon me to educate myself more thoroughly about this enormously important country. “Without Shepherds” actually transports you to modern day Pakistan through the eyes of its fascinating and charismatic subjects – a cricket star turned political leader, a feminist fashion model, a Sufi musician, a truck driver, a female journalist, and a former terrorist – all against Pakistan’s current political backdrop. This approach makes viewing “Without Shepherds” not only informative, but also thoroughly entertaining. The excellent cinematography and fabulous music only add to the atmospherics of this unique and enthralling documentary. “Without Shepherds” should be required viewing for all concerned world citizens!

I've seen this film twice and loved it both times. It presents its protagonists with tremendous honesty, patience, and generosity. The film has such a light touch, it's easy to lose sight of the remarkable feat of capturing all this footage. You don't need to be fascinated by contemporary Pakistan to enjoy this film, but it's hard to come away from the film without having become fascinated
