Got this for my kids (girls) who have enjoyed other Japanese animation eg howl's moving castle immensely. However it was very different, Central female character is a pathetic victim, turned it off after 10 minutes. Strictly for braindead and emo types.

At first, wasn't very sure if this would grab my attention since I was never really intrested in these types of films but after recommendations from friends I gave in and watched it. Blown away, completely. Very very emotional and a powerful message for all ages. Love is one word that is never said but you can sure feel the love throughout it. 10/10 would watch again.

In a word. This film is perfect. It beautifully captures the struggles of a single mother fending for her kids best she can even though they are different to her. I read a review calling this a film for the brain dead or emos. Clearly. You are the brain dead one. All films improve from the first ten minutes. It's my all time favourite anime film and have enjoyed it so much I bought the manga.
