Adam (Charlie Plummer), un jeune garçon prometteur et sans histoires, commence à entendre des voix et avoir des visions. Il est diagnostiqué schizophrène mais préfère garder le secret à l'école. Vivant dans la peur que quelqu'un découvre sa maladie, il se rapproche avec Maya (Taylor Russell), qui l'inspire à ouvrir son cœur et à ne pas être défini par sa condition. Avec le soutien de sa famille et grâce à cet amour naissant, Adam espère pour la première fois qu'il pourra traverser les obstacles qui l'attendent.
