Wrath of Man" is a revenge based action thriller from acclaimed and innovative director Guy Ritchie ("Aladdin," "Sherlock Holmes," "Snatch"). This contemporary movie tells the story of the cold and mysterious 'H' as he goes to work at a cash truck company that moves hundreds of millions of dollars around Los Angeles every week. H's objective is unique and unanticipated, but is only revealed incrementally, utilizing a suspenseful and carefully constructed nonlinear narrative to lay bare his true intentions. Shifting across timelines and various character's perspectives, "Wrath of Man" builds to a thrilling, tragic, and inevitably bloody catharsis.

This is a well made film. It is slickly executed. It is a visual feast. Unfortunately it purely a celebration of violence and endorsement of greed, however cleverly expressed. A mildly entertaining but completely amoral epiphany to the meaningless vengeance of a criminal who lives by the sword and blames all but himself when that same sword takes his son. Jason Statham is predictably good but I am sure he has something else to offer than this rote killing machine silliness. Good title, mediocre film, worth nothing more than 120 minutes of distraction. If you have never worked in security, and can stomach dozens of working class men and women dying for your entertainment on a canvas of greed and viciousness, you might enjoy this.

I'm a fan of Stratham, but this leaden action movie was poorly done from start to finish. The acting is wooden and the macho dialog even worse. The script is as full of implausible holes as a colander. For example, "Sarge" is living somewhere in the LA area in a house that would cost at least $5 million - but he works at a mall - presumably as a security guard - and has a non-com military background. Throughout the film, various characters swirl around, none of them memorable. Did I mention the absolutely awful, wooden dialog? It's like the script was written in a weekend by drunk frat boys who like channeling 7th grade locker room humor. And then there's the convoluted, implausible plot. You'd need a Cliff Notes map to follow its twists and turns. Who is Stratham in this film? The boss of some crew? A member of some larger crew that knocks over cash trucks? No way to figure that out, because he gives orders and takes them. And why in the world does he have to be on scene with his son in the beginning to report on whether an armored truck turns left or right when it leaves a compound? It's the first of numerous plot blunders that make no sense whatsoever. Given the glowing reviews about Stratham and the movie director, I expected a lot more from this sad flick, and it definitely failed to deliver.

Love Guy Ritchie but this movie wasn't the best in my opinion. The cast was excellent and the acting was good, but the story was just so basic and one dimensional I didn't find it very interesting at all. Most the movie is seeing different perspectives of the same event (getting to know the characters and their interests) and then it just ends up being another Jason Statham revenge movie where his character is an undefeatable force to be reckoned with (Transporter, Expendibles) kinda movie.
