Despite its flaws, overall I liked this movie. The X-Men were always about the Nazi holocaust and America's mistreatment of African-Americans at its core. The much-loved "God Loves, Man Kills" story takes an unflinching look at religion's role in stoking the fires of racism. While this movie preserves the basic plot outline, they completely removed any and all references to religion, which neuters the central theme of the story. The main villain was changed from a preacher into a generic military-industrial complex boogeyman. Worst of all, movie Magneto does something that comic book Magneto would never, ever do (won't say what it is because spoilers). At least we finally got to meet Nightcrawler!

Don't get me wrong. The actual movie is great. Once again, Hugh Jackman's portrayal of Wolverine is top-notch and there are a lot more awesome battle scenes than the original, so really my only complaint is the convulsive, hard-to-follow plot. It was pretty easy to understand in the first half hour, but after that it's nothing but a mind-puzzle that's pretty much impossible to solve. The whole cerebrum part made no sense to me, as well as a few other things. Definetly will have to watch again to understand the plot better, but other than that, the movie's not half bad. Would seriously recommend it to a Marvel fan, especially an X- Men fan. Would have given it 5 stars if I understood the plot.

This was, I think, the best of the original trilogy, but that's not exactly saying much. What was the point of having Sabertooth and Toad in the first one; we barely see them. In this one the storyline is a bit stronger, but it's stretched much too long. Would have been just as good - perhaps even better - if it were just under 2hrs.
