Once worshipped as a god, Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant, awakens after thousands of years and is disillusioned with the world as he finds it. He recruits a team of powerful mutants, to cleanse mankind and create a new world order. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, a team of young X-Men fight to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind.

Anyone recall the Apocalypse from the 90s toon? THAT was a scary dude; this one looked like he really wanted to bust out and sing show tunes. Maybe have a dance off with that blue dude in GOTG1. It was a dumb moment in the screenplay when the kids at the mall were discussing sequels - talk about shooting yourself in the foot. And all that end of the world destruction didn't feel remotely terrifying it real since it was totally lacking in the human element - I mean, tens of thousands of ppl would've been wiped out and yet not a single person screamed and stampeded. Then Charles condoned all that at the end? Didn't ring true at all. That said: The Quicksilver sequence was outstanding! And the Phoenix bit wasn't bad either. So it's like this: Bryan Singer can't direct his way out of a paper bag but occasionally he takes naps and some ghost director takes over then Singer wakes up and takes credit for those shining moments. Watchable, despite over-reliance on CGI and excess drippy schmaltz (Magneto singing: So. Much. Cringe.)

I'm the biggest comic book fan you'll find but this movie was massively disappointing to me. This could have been the X film to end all X films however, it was ruined by a choppy story, masked with awful CGI and one of the weakest villains to ever grace a movie screen. A colossal over indulgence by director Bryan Singer who now needs to stay away from CBMs for all of eternity.

You would have thought that Bryan Singer would make yet another great X-Men movie like he always does. However this goes to show that sometimes a streak can be broken. A choppy story, laughable villain, and excessive CGI action make this a mess of Comic Book Movie! People seem to think that Last Stand is the worst X-Men Movie, but this clearly takes it's place as the worst. Last Stand was merely a warning for the abomination which would be Apocalypse!
