About this movie

Yeh Hai Bakrapur is a social satire set against the backdrop of rural India. A multi-layered film, it is primarily a hilarious take on the complex belief systems in our society and the conflicts that ensue thereon. It dwells, at the primary level, on the relationship between eight year old Zulfi Qureshi and his pet goat Shahrukh. By a strange set of circumstances, the entire village soon starts believing that Shahrukh, the goat, has divine or magical powers. His fame soon spreads like wild fire and his blessings are sought after by people from far and wide. However, along with fortune, there is also trouble in the form of conflicting claims over the ownership of Shahrukh and the income earned through him. Soon, the entire village is at loggerheads on the matter of the lineage of the goat and the panchayat is faced with the unenviable task of ruling on the matter. What their decision is, how it impacts Shahrukh and the consequences thereafter lead up to a rollercoaster ride that will leave the audiences wondering over the absurd turn of events and the foolish and extreme measures that people can resort to when up against with odds!
