Based on a stage play by Oren Safdie, this family drama examines a controlling mother (Ellen Burstyn) through the eyes of her three deflated children (Marc Blum, Ted Levine and Amanda Plummer), each of whom has sought therapy for the grief she's put them through. Waiting at the hospital for their father to come out of surgery, the dysfunctional Cooperbergs have plenty of time on their hands -- and they use it to work through their issues.
