About this movie

What would have happened if Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson had met as schoolboys? Why, the solution is elementary -- nothing but adventure! And that's just what director Barry Levinson (Diner, Rain Man, Bandits) gives us in this special effects spectacular that sends the super-sleuth on his very first case! When a plague of bizarre, puzzling murders grip London, young Holmes and his new found friend Watson find themselves unwittingly entangled in the dark mystery. So, "the game is a foot!" And the budding detective is off on an adventure to solve the most amazing case of his most extraordinary career!

Well deserving of a few sequels. But too much time has passed. It wouldn't be the same. 1stly it wouldn't be YOUNG Sherlock.... YES you've guessed it. This was a fantastic film & should have had many stories to follow, keeping with the same cast . It wouldn't be the same now. Just a lame duck.

Watched it when I was about 7/8. Would give it 5/5 back then. Still stands up today but would (and have) given it 4/5 now.

A good attempt at reinterpretation of the classic tale in the form of a prequal!
